#47 – Turkey, Crisped Onions, Dill Cream Cheese, Cucumbers, Roasted Red Peppers, and Hummus on a Black Pepper Roll

Ingredients

-Sliced turkey breast
-Sliced cucumbers
-Roasted red peppers
-Garlic hummus
-Black pepper

-Crisped onions
-Cream cheese
-Fresh dill
-French roll

Christian: I really like cream cheese on sandwiches. If I take one thing from this project, it will be the fact. (If I take two things, it will be how much I enjoy cream cheese as a condiment AND how much tuna salad still sucks. Seriously, it’s awful.)

Anyway, I was a little concerned that we wouldn’t be able to fit all of these ingredients on such a small roll (we used a different one this time.) But somehow we managed, and it was worth it.

I expected a little more from the roasted red peppers in the way of texture and flavor, but everything else worked for me in this one. I probably could have added a little more hummus, as I couldn’t taste it in every bite. At the the same time, however, I don’t think more hummus would have made me like this one any more.

Turkey continues to be the most consistent meat in these sandwiches and I really liked it here with the other flavors.

I really enjoyed this one.

Susannah: I was pleasantly surprised how well this one works. At first glance, they seem like some unusual flavors put together, and there’s a lot going on. Unlike the last sandwich with hummus on toast, the hummus here blends in with the other ingredients instead of bowling them over. I do have to say I am a fan of dill cream cheese. To quote a sammie aficionado, “Yum-o!” The only thing I would reconsider in the future is the roasted red pepper. I don’t know, maybe I wanted something more smokey, but I just didn’t feel like it added much.
