Christian: This one wasn’t much different from Sandwich #18, and I loved that one. Instead of turkey, this one had chicken. Instead of Hot Mayo, this one had Chili Aïoli. This one also added cheddar cheese and dish soap cilantro.
Yes, I am one of those with the genetic abnormality that makes cilantro taste like soap. And accordingly, I absolutely hate it. I asked Susannah if I could keep the awful herb out of my wrap, but she wasn’t having it. So my proposed compromise was this: I’d make my wrap without the garbage, but I’d add a leaf of it to one full bite to get the complete experience.
And that bite was not great.
Or at least not as great as all the others without it. As such, I will be giving two ratings for this one.
Overall, I didn’t like this one quite as much as I did #18, and not just because of the cilantro. I think it really just came down to me preferring the turkey over the chicken. Everything else (minus the soap) was basically the same.
★★★★ (without cilantro)
★★★ (with cilantro)
Susannah: I wanted to love this one, I really did. I had very high hopes and maybe over-hyped it in my mind, but I couldn’t help but compare it to the other wrap. The one with the turkey was better. Somehow, this one felt overstuffed; there were too many textures and flavors competing. Also, I thought I would never say this, but there was too much cheese; it didn’t need both the cheddar and the pepper jack. That being said, it was tasty and I would make it or something very similar to it again.
